We all live in a continuous cycle of rising and falling. I think of it as the Phoenix Cycle. Fire One is about the rising. In 2014, I was struggling with complications of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, something I was diagnosed with when I was a little girl. As the spring of 2015 approached, I realized I was on the rise again and promised myself I would live and paint with purpose regardless of obstacles ahead. Fire One embodies those first few purposeful steps. I hope it inspires others to rise as well, no matter what they are overcoming.
